Primary Research - Questionnaire Results - Audience Research

These are the results for our questionnaires:

That is the link to our table of results.

From these results you can reach many conclusions about our target audience and the public in general.
For example...

We found out that most of the people questioned listen to the radio for the music, therefore when we are targeting a young audience for our tea and toast show, we want to make sure the music is up to date and current.

This almost shows that for our show, the encore show, we are likely to have a smaller audience but as the show is so specialised we really need to get the right music to hook the musical fans.

Also we asked...

We asked people which station they listened to most and these were the results we got. Again the most popular ones are the ones with a younger target audience and the shows with things like chart shows. this is quite promising for our Tea and Toast show however there are also people listening to shows such as radio 2,4 and heart etc. These people tended to be older age groups which is what we expected and hope to target these people with our show The Encore, as well as a few others.

However this is dramatically affected by the age groups questioned.

As you can see there were not many people over the age of 25 that were interviewed, and more older people perhaps should have been.

As you can see from this people dont listen to radio for that many hours, not as much as they would watch TV say. These hours are more likely to be at breakfast and rush hour times etc.

We also asked if people preferred listening to a team of presenters or a single person and with the results we have decided to have 3 presenters for our Tea and Toast Show. We also think it fits in quite well with our style of show as more people adds more chat, humour and an informal style.

We asked people how they listened to the radio. The most popular answer was fm radio, supporting our theory that the most popular time people are listening to the radio is in the car, i.e on the way to work. Also though it showed that people like to listen to the radio on the internet and internet and mobile communication is growing and it would probably be a good idea for us to look at getting onto the internet.

This is the amount of people we questions that had ever interacted with a radio show, through any form of media. As you can see it isnt many, so we figured the more ways we give the listeners to interact with us the more likely they will be to get in touch.

Finally we asked people if there was anything they disliked about radio, as you can see most people were quite content with it but we did notice people that were unhappy didn't like the adverts. Luckily for us that doesn't really affect us in this project but when producing a radio show that needs funding and there for adverts, how many, how often and which adverts you play, can play a big part on your listeners over all experience.
